Sustainable Development Goals

Learning Goals

The discipline of Anatomy III aims the knowledge and understanding of the anatomy of the circulatory system, the nervous system and the sense organs in the domestic animal species, in order to develop capacity for understanding the normal functioning of the organism as a whole and its application to medical procedures (physical examination of the patient,
interpretation of symptoms and morphological changes), diagnostic (imaging and invasive techniques) and surgical, as well as its application to clinical and paraclinical procedures" (eg, livestock production).
It is intended that the student acquires practical skills of dissection and exploration of the animal body, as a basis for professional preparation for other activities such as pathology, clinic, surgery or meat inspection.

Teaching Methods

Lectures will be based on powerpoint presentations including image, photo and videoclips. All presentations mentioned above are previously released in the “Moodle" platform, and can be "downloaded" by students for individual use. Practical lessons consist of dissection in carnivore and small ruminant cadavers of blood vessels, nerves and lymphatic nodes in the different body regions. There will be also used anatomic models and preserved organs or body parts, as accessory elements.
The evaluation process is of the mixed type, consisting of a mid-semester evaluation (optional) and an evaluation during the period of the examinations (mandatory). Any of the evaluations consist of a theoretical and practical examination, in the oral form. The mid-semester evaluation has a weighting of 0.4 and the examination at the end of the semester has a weighting of 0.6. For students who opt to take the final test only, this is worth 100%.
