The Curricular Unit intends to develop knowledge about pharmacology.

GOALS:
The student should be able:
- To know the principals pharmacological concepts;
- Understand drugs mechanisms of action and pharmacokinetic profiles;
- Identify the main active substances based on different therapeutic groups of drugs;
- To know the process of vigilance and adherence of the use of medicines;
- Promote a culture of medication safety.
SKILLS:
- Correlates general principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics with therapeutic effects of medicines.
- Applies principles of pharmacology by classification of drugs system.
- Understand the importance of the culture of safety, adhesion, and the rational use of medicines.

I. Pharmacology-general introduction. Concepts of pharmacokinetics and
II. pharmacodynamic.
III. Pharmacotherapeutic groups: Antimicrobial drugs; Nervous system, Cardiovascular system, Blood, Respiratory system, Alimentary tract, Genito-urinary system; Systemic Hormonal preparations and other preparations for treatment of endocrine diseases; Musculo skeletal system; Solutions; Antineoplastic and Immunomodulating agents.
IV. Rational use of the medication. National Pharmacovigilance System.
V. Safety use of medication. Medicines with similar Phonetic Spelling name. High-alert medications; Medication management; Medication Reconciliation.

Teaching Methods
The classes will be theoretical, and theoretical-practical. The methodology will be essentially expository and interactive.
The evaluation methodology will concern an individual midterm exam (100%) or, according to the students interest, evaluation will content into two Tests (50%+50%). The students whose final grade (continuous evaluation or final exam) is equal to or greater than 9.5 will be approved.
