In this unit students should achieved the following objectives:
- Identify key elements and players associated with the development of the national and international accommodation sector.
- Understand the importance of interpersonal relationships as a key factor in the hospitality sector.
- Understand what are the accommodation activities and services that best fit with the characteristics of the geographical area in which they operate.
- Characterize the role of ICT in the hotel sector.
- Knowing the types of Accommodations units offered in Portugal and also its general and specific legal requirements.
- Analyze the characteristics of tourism supply and demand and discuss the national and international trends that predict the future of the hospitality industry.

Teaching Methods
Subjects and contents will be approached through theoretical and practical lessons, not only using an expositive method, but also fomenting the dialogue and the debate to deepen the knowledge of the different contents.
Students are thus encouraged to identify additional sources of information to those indicated for each theme that should appeal not only to traditional instruments as well as to research technological means, particularly in the use of search engines on the Internet for obtaining references, texts, articles, dictionary entries and relevant international studies.
Assessment methods will be conducted, over individual written test (60%) and individual or group working papers (40%).
