Promote the development of capacities of research planning, strategies and organization of methodologies; resources and collecting data for results production in Arts research, specifically musical performance, composition and musicology.
Development of knowledge capacities of structuring and synthesis of the unit´s content and the associated written and oral expression training.

Teaching Methods

The course has a strong practical component in preparing students for research, data collection, organization and archiving.
Classes combine expository moments illustrated with practical examples of research projects in the field of music and musicology, focusing on bibliographical research, fieldwork and research methodologies.
The moments of debate, based on the covered topics, aim to mobilize the knowledge acquired and reflect on various subjects from a critical, informed perspective. Students are accompanied in by the teacher in the preparation of the research proposal, based on a topic that is in line with the course and field of individual work.

Assessment

The student can choose between:

Continuous Evaluation:
- Written individual work consisting of the preparation of a research project (80%)
- Preliminary oral presentation of the research project, with digital support (20%)

Final Evaluation:
- Written test (60%)
- Written individual work - Research Project (40%)
