Teaching Methods

Problem-solving sessions, where students are invited to work on their own or in small groups, with some moments of exposition or discussion involving the whole class.

Assessment

The evaluation may be either continuous, done through frequent partial tests and quizzes (weighting 100% of the classification), the number of which is to be defined by the professor who is responsible for the course unit in each academic year, or by a final exam. As an example, in the academic year of 2019/2020, there were five 15-minutes tests, and a two-hour final test. The first five tests weighted 10% each and the final test weighted 50 in the final grade. In case the grade of the final test was better that the weighted grade, the former prevailed. Students who achieved a grade of 18 or above did an extra oral exam. For these students the final grade was the maximum between 17 and the simple average of the previous grade and the oral exam.
