Learning Goals

The objective of the curricular unit is to deepen and systematize the knowledge acquired by the student in the curricular units of the previous semesters, through the exploration and experimental application of this knowledge to a concept product design.
- To develop the student's ability to design innovation scenarios for the future, based on the interpretation of present knowledge evolution phenomena (at the level of social, technological, cultural, etc. factors);
- To develop the student's skills and competences at the level of his / her autonomy in the exploration and application of methodological processes of design based on innovation presuppositions;
- Contribute to the deepening of student interest in research.

Contents

1. Delimitation of concepts: phenomenon, trend and innovation. Its relation in design.
2. Case study analysis: historical phenomena that promote new trends and innovation processes in design.
3. Fiction versus Conceptualization.
4. The importance of substantiate in the creation of scenarios.
5. Exploration of new concepts through the projection of evolutionary scenarios of phenomena.
6. Systematization and reporting of results.

Teaching Methods

EVALUATION



In the NORMAL SEASON assessment students may choose one of two schemes: Continuous or Final Assessment.



1. CONTINUOUS EVALUATION SCHEME



Evaluation Components:



a. Class participation: 20%;

b. Work developed during the period with the accompaniment of the teacher, which must be submitted, at least, to a periodic evaluation with public disclosure of the classifications: 40%;

c. Presentation and defense of the work developed during the classes, which occurs during the "Regular Season Evaluations": 40%.



2. FINAL EVALUATION SCHEME



a. Work developed during the period with the teacher's accompaniment: 40%;

b. Examination based on the contents taught: 60%.
