To facilitate the understanding on a critical basis of literature using statistics in the field of Human and Social Sciences.
To be able to apply appropriate statistical methods, emphasizing the interpretation of the results.

Contents

Descriptive statistics
Introduction to probability
Random variables : unidimensional and bidimensional
Main probability distributions
Point estimation and confidence intervals
Hypothesis testing
Goodness of fit and independence tests
Other non-parametric tests
Correlation and linear regression
Use of statistical software.

Teaching Methods

Theoretical and lab classes, using the blackboard and slides, as well as tables and calculators or computers with appropriate software. Resolution of exercises directed to the area of studies in question. There will be support material on the Moodle platform.

Methods of Evaluation: Continuous assessment is preferred (typically with two tests, but may include individual or group work), but the student can also be evaluated by an exam.
