Operating Room Nursing - Advanced Training in Orthopedic and Traumatology Instrumentation
Curso de Formação
Ano Letivo 2025/2026
Course Overview
In the context of the operating room, perioperative nursing is one of the most challenging and complex scenarios in professional healthcare practice. This environment requires not only up-to-date technical skills, but also a humanized, patient-centred approach adapted to the patient's specific needs. Practice in this context is based on fundamental pillars such as risk management, patient safety and quality of care, reflected in and based on the quality indicators defined by the Order of Nurses. Nursing care in this area is aimed at the health of the person and family/significant others experiencing health/illness processes that require surgical and anesthetic procedures, in a perioperative environment, at promoting health, preventing adverse events and treating illness. In this technological, highly specialized and demanding environment, the role of nurses stands out both for their technical competence and for the humanization of care. At a time of intense scientific and technological transformation, with the expansion of robotic surgery, the advance of artificial intelligence and the growing focus on sustainability, the challenges for operating room nurses have become even greater, reaffirming their essential role in the excellence of care.
