About
The ICT Competence Centre of the University of Évora (CCTIC-UÉ) is a structure dedicated to building bridges between the University and the education system.
As part of the National Network of ICT Competence Centres and established under a collaboration protocol with the Ministry of Education, it serves as a space for collaboration, experimentation and knowledge transfer. Its mission is to bring research and training closer to school practice by supporting the curricular and pedagogical integration of digital technologies and contributing to more innovative and inclusive education.
The history of CCTIC-UÉ reflects the evolution of digital education in Portugal. Its origins date back to the Minerva Project, a pioneering initiative in introducing information technologies into Portuguese schools, and it was subsequently recognised as a Competence Centre under the Nónio Século XXI Programme. For more than three decades, it has supported schools and teachers in reflecting on, experimenting with and integrating technologies to enhance learning, while accompanying successive public policies for educational innovation.
As a reference centre for the Alentejo region, it works in close collaboration with schools, school clusters, school association training centres, municipalities and other partner organisations. This close connection with the region enables it to respond to the challenges faced by educational communities and to promote solutions tailored to their specific contexts.
Its activities encompass support for the curricular and pedagogical integration of digital technologies, the professional development of educators and teachers, digital literacy, digital citizenship and online safety, programming, educational robotics, computational thinking and artificial intelligence in education.
