1. To acquire the basic information necessary for the structured construction of the thesis project
2. To develop knowledge of the bibliography, which will allow each student to specify the central theme of his/her project

4. To circumscribe properly the subject of the individual PhD thesis

1. Meaning of research in Philosophy
2. Stages and components of a research project
3. Text: the common denominator of research in Philosophy
4. Different types of text: the plurality in the presentation (oral and written) of research results
5. Bibliographic rules in the editing of philosophical texts
6. The preparation of the PhD thesis project and the formal requirements for its institutional registration

Teaching Methods
The following main methods will be used in the course:
a) Presentation (in the introduction of themes and problems);
b) Text hermeneutics;
c) Discussion about the students' work in progress;
d) Continuous assessment: of attendance and active participation in seminar sessions (15%); of the presentation and discussion of the project, throughout the seminars and during the Research Conference (50%); of the written project according to the model/form of the University (35%). Failure to meet the requirements for continuous assessment will have the alternative of taking an exam.
