Course Overview

The Master?s in International Relations and European Studies is an interdisciplinary course that aims to provide students with an in depth analysis of the main actors, structures and processes that shape global politics. Throughout the first year, the Master's program addresses the main themes of International Relations and the theoretical perspectives for its analysis, with special emphasis on the study of the European Union as a political system and as an actor in a globalized world. The classes are designed to respect a balance between the practical and theoretical dimensions of the two core areas of the course, in order to provide students with a diverse set of skills, both academically and professionally. The second year is dedicated to the dissertation, allowing students to deepen their research and apply the knowledge acquired to an area of International Relations or European Studies, in away that respects their personal and professional interests.

Career Prospects

Graduates of the Master?s in International Relations and European Studies acquire a wide range of theoretical and practical skills that enable them to pursue careers in both the public and private sectors ? namely in government departments, public administration, intergovernmental organizations (IGOs), European Union institutions and bodies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), political parties, lobbying groups, and international business.
Upon completion of the program, graduates are well-prepared to pursue a diverse range of professional paths, including diplomacy, consultancy, teaching, and research.

Specific Entry Requirements

May apply for the MSc in International Relations and European Studies graduates in Social Sciences and Humanities, Law and Political Science and Economics.
Under the terms of the regulations, the 2nd cycle programme is also open to:
- Holders of a foreign higher academic degree awarded following a 1st cycle of studies, provided that it is organised in accordance with the Bologna Process by a state adhering to this process;
- Holders of a foreign higher academic degree which the Scientific Council of the School of Social Sciences recognises as satisfying the objectives of the degree;
- Holders of a scientific, academic and professional curriculum that attests to their ability to qualify for the Master's degree, following a curricular assessment to be carried out by the Scientific Council of the School of Social Sciences.
