Course Overview

The fundamental objective of the PhD program in Mechatronics Engineering is the training of highly qualified technicians and researchers, particularly in the areas of specialization in Mechatronics or Energy, capable of developing autonomous experimental development or research work, geared towards both the business and university environments. The offering of a third cycle in Mechatronics Engineering follows a series of similar second cycle programs offered by the University of Évora, namely in Mechatronics Engineering and Solar Energy, and results from research developed at the University of Évora, particularly in the centers evaluated by the FCT (Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology) that host its faculty as integrated researchers. Among these, the CREATE (Center for Technological and Scientific Development), the Chair of Renewable Energies, and the CEiiA Chair of Science, Technology and Aerospace stand out. This Doctoral program provides advanced training in diverse areas of specialization, with strong interdisciplinary potential.
In emerging domains, from Product Design Engineering, Instrumentation, Automatic Control and Process Supervision, to the development of technologies with a spectrum of applications in Mechatronics Engineering, Energy Efficiency of Processes, Energy Capture, Conversion and Concentration.

Specific Entry Requirements

They may apply for admission to the third cycle of studies leading to the doctoral degree:
- Holders of appropriate Master?s degrees, namely in Mechatronics Engineering, Solar Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a Master?s degree in a related field, or those possessing a curriculum vitae considered relevant in these areas.
- Holders of a Bachelor?s degree or legal equivalent that is recognized as certifying the capacity to undertake this cycle of studies by the competent scientific body.
