To foster the student's artistic and cultural performances through the development of:
- cognitive : studying the pop/ rock history from 1980 to 2010, respective instrumentation, repertoire, social impacts.
- Musical: Stylistics studies (harmony, melody and rhythm), musical transcription
- communication: individual presentation and group work

Contents

Stylistic and cultural studies of pop/ rock of decades from 80 to 010 based on bibliographic, video and audio records.
On each seminar pop/ rock history will be discussed through bibliographic references supported by audio and video.
Oral group random picked seminars will be arranged along the semester.
Stylistic study through analysis and transcription.
Essays written by students will be evaluate.

Teaching Methods

The teaching methodologies of the course include expository lectures on the syllabus and discussions with the students on key topics related to specific themes to be problematized. Audiovisual resources will be used (audio recordings, videos, video clips, interviews, documentaries, etc.). Debate about key topics will be encouraged with the class, fostering a critical perspective and the participation of students in the learning process, based on the various resources and the proposed bibliography. The listening, analysis, and transcription of musical examples, individually or in small groups, will be promoted to identify distinct characteristics of diverse musical genres and styles.

Continuous Evaluation:
Individual written work (65%)
Group work with written support (20%) and oral presentation (15%)
