Course Overview

This Programme aims to contribute to the advanced training of researchers and to the production of knowledge in specific areas of Linguistics. Grounded on research lines of two R&D Centers (CEL-UE and CIDEHUS-UÃ), both accredited by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), it provides students with close supervision of their research work (a supervisor or a supervisory team is assigned to each of them), also encouraging them to actively participate in several scientific events. By the end of this programme, therefore, students will have developed the ability to think critically, to design and carry out an original and relevant research topic in Linguistics, being responsible for all their academic work and complying with research integrity and good practice, and to transfer knowledge to the academic community and society at large.

Specific Entry Requirements

Foreign applicants whose first language is not Portuguese are required to submit evidence that they have achieved level B2 in this language. Evidence is only accepted if a test has been taken in the two years before the start of the course of study.
