Course Overview

The PhD in Management at the University of Évora is one of the oldest PhD programs in this scientific area in Portugal. The program is intended for those who want to pursue an academic career or do research either in public or private institutions, or those who want to pursue top management careers. The program provides solid training in the various fields of management and aims to deepen knowledge and develop research skills in management. The curricular part of the program trains students in the use of research methods and essential analytical methods in management and exposes students to the main management theories while allowing students to specialise in specific areas of management. During the thesis period, students develop their research activity, participate in seminars and conferences and have to publish articles. In summary, the PhD in Management aims to train PhD students to understand management problems and contribute to scientific knowledge in this field.

Specific Entry Requirements

Candidates must have certified English proficiency (minimum B2 level). Candidates whose background is in Management or Economics or in areas with a strong mathematical component, can only be admitted if the weighted average of their grade in the undergraduate degree and in the scholar component of the Master (or Postgraduate program) is greater than or equal to 13 (in a scale from 0 to 20). Candidates whose background is not in Management or Economics and with a weak mathematical background can only be admitted if the weighted average of their grade in undergraduate degree and in the scholar component of the Master (or Postgraduate program) is greater than or equal to 16. Candidates without a mathematics component in their undergraduate or master's degree will not be admitted.
