Teaching Methods
Theoretical exposition. Reading, analysis, discussion and synthesis.
The use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) systems may be employed on the premise of exercising the ability to pose questions that allow knowledge to be built in a critical and autonomous manner. This principle applies to all parties involved in the teaching-learning process, both students and instructor.
The use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) systems is strictly prohibited during assessment (exam, final exam, oral exam).
If a written assignment or oral presentation to be developed by the student in independent work is designated as an assessment instrument, the use of these tools is permitted for the purposes of text revision and bibliographic research. Such use must be properly referenced with the name of the tool (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) and its respective version. The absence of such reference, as well as the presentation of results produced by GenAI as one's own work, may constitute improper appropriation of content generated by the tool and, therefore, such an act may constitute academic fraud and plagiarism.

Assessment
Continuous Assessment
Continuous assessment will comprise at least two assessment components. One of these must be a written exam (frequência), with a weighting of 50% and for which the grade cannot be lower than 8 points.
The other component will consist of other instruments, to be defined at the beginning of the semester, which may be:
a) a second written exam (frequência), with a weighting of 50%;
or
b) other element(s) defined by the teaching staff, tailored to the course syllabi and teaching methodologies, with a weighting of 50%;
or
c) a combination of the two instruments mentioned in items a) and b), with a weighting of 25% + 25%.
Final Exam
The exam framework (covering the regular, resit, special, and extraordinary examination periods) consists of a single written exam, which will be weighted at 100%. Students who obtain a grade between 8.0 and 9.4 points on the written exam will be required to take an oral exam.
If deemed necessary to verify the extent to which the student has developed the knowledge and skills expected for the curricular unit, the teaching staff may summon the student for an oral exam, in accordance with paragraph 13 of Article 110 of the Academic Regulations of the University of Évora, ensuring the conditions provided for in paragraph 4 of Article 116 and paragraph 1 of Article 118 of the same Regulations; this oral exam will have a weighting of 80% in the unit's final grade.
Continuous assessment will comprise at least two assessment components. One of these must be a written exam (frequência), with a weighting of 50% and for which the grade cannot be lower than 8 points.
The other component will consist of other instruments, to be defined at the beginning of the semester, which may be:
a) a second written exam (frequência), with a weighting of 50%;
or
b) other element(s) defined by the teaching staff, tailored to the course syllabi and teaching methodologies, with a weighting of 50%;
or
c) a combination of the two instruments mentioned in items a) and b), with a weighting of 25% + 25%.
Final Exam
