Teaching Methods

Structured presentation of concepts and approaches to understanding the decision process using the modern teaching technologies such as Moodle;
Illustration of the concepts and approaches through examples;
Resolution of exercises and other problems using specific software (Moodle, Excel, Julia);
Remote synchronous sessions never exceeding 15% of total sessions.

Assessment

Class attendance is mandatory. Students, both in the continuous assessment and exam systems, must attend 75% of the sessions. This restriction does not apply to students with Working-student status and during the Resit Period.

There are two assessment systems: continuous assessment and final assessment. In the continuous assessment system, the final grade is based on the grade of a group practical assignment and the grade obtained in two tests. The final grade gives a weight of 20% to the group practical assignment, 40% to the grade of the first test, and 40% to the grade of the second test. In each of the assessment tests, the minimum grade is 7 points. In the final assessment system, the assessment is based on the grade of the group practical assignment, with a weight of 20%, and the grade of the exam, with a weight of 80%. The resit exam grade is based on the best grade between the result of the resit exam and the grade of the practical assignment (weight of 20%) and the resit exam (weight of 80%). Thus, a student who initially opts for the continuous assessment system will never be disadvantaged by their choice.

If deemed necessary to verify the extent to which the student has developed the knowledge and skills expected for the curricular unit, the teaching staff may call the student for an oral examination, in accordance with § 13 of article 110 of the Academic Regulations of the University of Évora, ensuring the conditions set out in § 4 of article 116 and § 1 of article 118 of the same Regulations.
