Ocean and Alentejo Workshop: Challenges and Opportunities for a Region on the Atlantic Coast of Europe
The Ocean and Alentejo Workshop at the University of Évora (UÉ) provides an opportunity to present to the academic community the strategic priorities defined by the Portuguese Government for its action in this field. At the same time, it serves as a platform for fostering collaboration among the University and external stakeholders, through the exchange of knowledge and the dissemination of innovative research being developed in the field of the Ocean and its interaction with the territory.
The Workshop will take place only a few weeks after the public release of the report of the third cycle of the World Ocean Assessment (WOA III), which provides a comprehensive and integrated scientific assessment of the state of the global marine environment. This report serves as an important evidence base for decision-making in support of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and for the implementation of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
