The specific conditions for admission to this study cycle are regulated by point 4 of article 18 of the Legal Regime of Professional Qualification for Teaching in Pre-school Education and in Basic and Secondary Education, approved by Decree-Law No. 9-A/2025, of February 14th, namely that candidates must have a minimum of 100 ECTS in Portuguese and a minimum of 60 ECTS in English. The remaining specific conditions for admission to this study cycle are regulated by paragraphs 6 and 7 of article 18 of Decree-Law No. 9-A/2014, of February 14th.

A general admission requirement is oral and written proficiency in the Portuguese language and mastery of the essential rules of logical and critical argumentation, in accordance with the legislation in force for this purpose. This condition will be certified by a combination of a written Portuguese language test and an interview. In both, the candidate must obtain approval. The written test and the interview are mandatory for all, regardless of their previous education or professional situation. Applications can also be made by presenting a certificate of approval, issued by another higher education institution, where the candidate has taken tests for the same purpose, considering the conditions provided for in the legislation in force. The written examination and the interview to assess proficiency in the Portuguese language will take place on 23 March 2026 (1st phase), 15 June 2026 (2nd phase), and 07 September 2026 (3rd phase), at a location and time to be announced.
