Summary

This project intends to explore mysticism and spirituality in the intersection of music and fine/media arts, through the study of works by selected Polish and Portuguese artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, such as Andrzej Dziadek,

Ryszard Gabryś, Edward Bogusławski, Łukasz Woś, or João Pedro Oliveira, Eurico Carrapatoso and João Madureira. The music analytical process and subsequent performance of the works in question will be completed by a survey of pertaining literature and input from the fields of fine and media arts studies, since a significant number of the selected works either relies on those as source of inspiration or as direct outputs of the musical process. The presentation of results and the performance of selected works to a wide range of researchers, musicians, students and public, as well as the creation of virtual spaces using those works, as a means of experiencing music through technology, in a new dimension of mysticism, are the expected outcomes of the project.

Constituem objectivos gerais do presente projecto:

  1. A reflexão sobre a problemática do misticismo e da espiritualidade em obras de compositores oriundos de dois países culturalmente distintos mas que partilham uma herança espiritual comum, numa perspectiva alrgada que combina interpretação e análise musical, realização multimédia e estudos artísticos, mas também as dimensões histórica e sociológica pertinentes.
  2. O estímulo à cooperação artístico-científica internacional. 
  3. O estímulo à cooperação entre especialistas de diversas áreas.
