Learning Goals
The UC aims to deepen and critically discuss knowledge, skills, and competencies around research methodologies in the field of tourism. The specific learning objectives are:
1-Reflect about the philosophical foundations of scientific research in tourism.
2- Know and understand the research paradigms applied to tourism, as well as the ontological, epistemological, methodological and axiological issues of each of them.
3- Analyze the types of research that can be applied to tourism.
4-Promote the ability to identify, analyze and debate problems and procedures associated with methodological strategies (quantitative and qualitative) of research in tourism.
5-Know and distinguish the different sampling techniques.
6- Know and critically analyze the various data collection techniques.
7-To enable the student to structure a tourism research methodological process.
8- Reflect about tourism research trends

Teaching Methods
The nature of the program content requires that learning be based on classes of a theoretical-practical nature. The content will be transmitted combining the expository method (to transmit structuring knowledge) and active method (to encourage reflection and debate on real situations, for students to develop their ability to assimilate content in a dynamic, autonomous and participatory way). The various procedures involved in both the design and implementation of a tourism research methodology will be tested, through individual or collective practical exercises in person or remotely. The teaching component of the curricular unit is structured using 3 types of contact, which correspond to a total of 30 theoretical-practical hours of teaching, with 24 hours of face-to-face contact and 6 hours of distance contact.
Assessment
According to the academic regulations of the University of Évora, students can choose between continuous assessment or exam. Continuous Assessment: Collective and individual practical exercises: 20%; Individual assignment 80% Normal Exam: Written exam 20%; Individual assignment 80% Exam Resource: Written exam 20%; Individual assignment 80% Special Exam: Written exam 20%; Individual assignment 80%
