At the end of the course unit, students are expected to:
LO1: Be familiar with the sociological concepts of work, employment, and professions;
LO2: Be familiar with the main theoretical approaches in the study of work, employment, and professions and be able to mobilize sociological theories in the analysis of the social world.

LO4: Be familiar with and be able to critically explain and analyze the main contemporary trends in the world of work, employment, and professions.

Teaching Methods
The teaching and learning process will be achieved through theoretical-practical classes, tutorial guidance, and autonomous study by the students.
In the in-person sessions, the professor will present the programmatic content, illustrating it with examples of relevant research for the course. Students will be engaged with questions and doubts will be clarified. The professor will also use multimedia resources (films, documentaries, videos, podcasts, and digital materials) to stimulate reflection, link theory to practice, and establish connections between their learning and current social contexts. During classes, students may be invited to carry out individual or group exercises aimed at deepening the comprehension of the topics, strengthening communication (written and oral) and argumentation, and developing the capacity for critical and intersectional analysis. The methodology may include participation in scientific events, such as conferences or open classes.
The tutorial guidance sessions are primarily intended for the clarification of specific questions and doubts.
Autonomous study includes the mandatory reading of bibliography texts and the regular review of content discussed in class.
The Moodle platform will be used to facilitate communication between the instructor and the students and to provide didactic materials and resources that support the organization and development of the students' individual work.
In this course unit (CU), the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools is only permitted to assist in the creation of supporting materials for oral presentations (e.g., PowerPoint), based on content previously produced by the students themselves.
If AI tools are used, the session identifier or a share link to the interaction must be included as an additional element of transparency. For example: ?In preparing this work, the tool [Name of AI, e.g., ChatGPT] was used. The author(s) fully validated the content and assume(s) final responsibility for the work submitted. Any uses other than those specified above are considered unacceptable. The misuse of AI tools will be considered academic misconduct under Article 119 of the Academic Regulations (Code of Conduct, Fraud and Plagiarism).
If deemed necessary to verify the extent to which the student has developed the knowledge and competences ??????????ated for the CU, the teaching staff may require the student to take an oral examination, in accordance with paragraph 13 of Article 110 of the Academic Regulations of the University of Évora, while ensuring the conditions provided for in paragraph 4 of Article 116 and paragraph 1 of Article 118 of the same Regulations. In the final grade for the CU, the oral examination will carry the same weighting as the assessment component(s) it is intended to replace.

(i) attendance at 75% of classes (except in cases provided for by statute);
(ii) participation in the assessment procedures in accordance with the stipulated arrangements and deadlines.
Evaluation will be conducted based on two modalities: Continuous Assessment or Final Assessment.
Under the Continuous Assessment modality, the final grade in the Curricular Unit (UC) will be weighted as follows:
- 1st Assessment Test (written report and oral presentation) o be conducted during the teaching period: 40%
- 2nd Assessment Test (written report and oral presentation) to be conducted during the final evaluation period: 45%
- Active participation in classroom debates and tasks: 15%.
