Main objective | “CONNECT+ - Extending the CONNECT coastal service to the southern Portuguese coast” aims to enhance and extend the CONNECT coastal monitoring service to support the protection of coastal waters and the blue economy in the southern Portuguese coast. Implemented within the Copernicus Marine Service (CMEMS) “National Collaboration Programme 2022-2028”, the CONNECT service delivers physical and biogeochemical data on Portuguese estuaries and coasts to support the compliance to EU directives by the national authorities. CONNECT+ will upgrade the existing service to extend its application to the Algarve region in the south of Portugal, and provide additional physical, biogeochemical and faecal indicator bacteria (FIB) data to support shellfish aquaculture and coastal tourism.
