Summary
Modelling individual growth of animals and plants with growth rates affected by environmental random fluctuations. We use stochastic differential equation (differential equations with an extra dynamical term to account for the environmental fluctuations) for the size of the individual. In fact, traditional regression models do not work because they do not keep memory of past sizes (an individual with a weight much below average has equal probability of being above or below average immediately after). We will develop techniques for parameter estimation and prediction of future sizes, determine the distribution of the time to reach maturity and use the results for profit optimization in farming.
Goals, activities and expected/achieved results
Goals
