Summary

The CONSTRUCTAL project aims at finding deterministic methodologies and new concepts of flow architectures, namely flow trees to be used in point-t-area and point-to-volume flows and vice-versa. The optimal flow trees for feeding both the fuel cell electrodes with fuel and oxidant will be specially considered. The optimal flow tree for the fuel cell case will be adapted to other cases in which flow are of same type. The project aims also at continuing previous work on the contribution of Constructal Theory to the understanding shape and structure, and scaling laws of natural and biologic flow structures.Especial attention will be paid to aspects of the global circulation of the atmosphere that are important to climate change, and to leaf vascularisation.

Goals, activities and expected/achieved results

Goals

The ambitious and challenging goal is the implementation of the new constructal theory to provide a deterministic design methodology for adaptable flow trees for our rapidly changing world.
