I am an applied plant pathologist expertise in soils borne pathogens, the diagnostic of plant diseases caused by nematodes, and the classical and molecular nematode diagnostics. In addition, I have extensive training in modern molecular biology, phylogeny, genetics and bioinformatics. My particular strengths include a fusion of conventional and molecular methodologies in the identification and diagnostics of plant-parasitic nematodes combined with expertise in molecular phylogenetic analysis, and gene expression.
My major interest is to study and characterize plant parasitic nematodes are economically important pests of Mediterranean crops, with emphasis on i) the integrative diagnosis; ii) molecular systematics and evolution; and iii) the molecular genetic diversity and genome sequencing. My aim is to develop methodologies and strategies for effective plant parasitic nematode control with a minimal negative impact on the environment.
Studies on the biology-ecology of plant parasitic nematodes and the interaction of host-nematodes using proteomic, genomic and transcriptomic approaches are highly interesting topic for me.
