Teaching Methods
Through discussion, research and written and oral production, students learn the several dimensions of Cultural
Studies, coming to understand them in the broader social, aesthetic, ethical and political contexts.
Students will develop their research in oral (30%) and written (50%) works, with emphasis on the critical analysis
and close reading of the suggested bibliography.
The curricular unit is taught in collective in-class sessions of theoretical and practical nature, prepared with previous
readings by the students in order to motivate debate and dialogue around the pertinent questions of the
syllabus, as well as to enhance full understanding of the topics. There will also be practical sessions, where we
consider as crucial the gradual autonomous work of students and their commitment outside classes.
In accordance with Order No. 34/2026, the use of AI tools is permitted in this course unit to support learning, research, literature review, and the preparation of educational materials, provided that the student critically validates all information and maintains human control over the content produced, thereby constituting a form of analytical research for continuous assessment. In such cases, the student must provide the link to the AI query and the prompt used. Misuse will be treated as academic fraud under Article 119 of the Academic Regulations (Code of Conduct, Fraud and Plagiarism).
