Tutored face-to-face accompanying of hospital clinical activities, with rotation between consultation services, surgery and hospitalization of companion animals, horses, livestock species and exotic animals.
Teaching Methods
Teaching at UC employs active, student-centered learning methodologies. Throughout the academic year, each student will perform 10 non-consecutive day shifts of four hours each, and two non-consecutive night shifts of eight hours each. During shifts, each student will have the opportunity to accompany clinicians in consultations, surgeries and hospitalization services for companion animals, horses, livestock species and exotic animals, and demonstrate the acquisition of skills, under the supervision of clinicians and teachers, in activities defined based on the scope of skills to be acquired in the curricular unit. Additionally, seminars will be organized throughout the academic semesters to promote learning based on the discussion of practical problems.
During the course unit, students may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to organize study materials and interpret clinical cases. This interpretation will subsequently be discussed with clinicians at the veterinary hospital and with the course instructors.

Assessment
The use of AI is not authorized in exercises or formal individual performance assessments.
Students pass the course unit if they meet all the following conditions:
- Completion of at least 56 hours of in-person hospital internship (verified by submitting the duly validated "Attendance Sheet" and "Procedure Log Sheet" via the Moodle platform).
- Attendance at a minimum of three of the four seminars scheduled for the course unit during the academic year.
- Successful completion of at least 10 mandatory competencies defined in the "Competency Assessment Sheet" available on the course unit's Moodle page.
As the competencies to be developed by the student in this course unit depend on completing at least 56 hours of hospital work during the academic year, they cannot be assessed via the final assessment scheme; furthermore, registration for special and extraordinary exam periods, as well as taking the final assessment under special regimes, is not permitted (RAUE, Article 110, no. 10).
Calculation of the final grade:
Number of competencies successfully completed x 1 point
