Course Overview

The MSc in Geology aims to provide solid scientific and technological training in the fundamental Geology domains (Sedimentology, Mineralogy, Stratigraphy, Petrology, Geochemistry, Structural Geology, Cartograph, Geological Resources, Environment and Planning) and simultaneously a specialization in selected analytical methods applied to the different domains of Geology, that allows its application in technological, strategic and innovative areas focus to:
(1) Characterization, valorisation, access and sustainable management of Geological Resources;
(2) Development of digital cartographic solutions;
(3) Development of technological solutions that mitigate or minimize the effects of processes associated with climate change; and
(4) Prevention and mitigation of natural risks.

Duration: 4 Semesters/120 ECTS credits (66 required and 12 optional in curricular units)

Career Prospects

The MSc Geology graduates, based on your competences, will be decisive for the development, competitiveness and sustainable management of the geological resources sector, as well as the development of methodologies and technology intended to the environmental protection and mitigation of natural risks.
The masters in Geology can develop their professional activity in public and private sector companies related to: Prospection and explotationof geological resources; assessment of environmental impacts and remediation of degraded areas; prevention and remediation of geological risks; geological consultancy; geotourism; teaching and scientific dissemination.
The conclusion of the master's degree in Geology will also allows the continuation of post-graduate and doctoral studies in academic and applied areas of the Earth Sciences.
