Course Overview

The cycle of studies in Biology and Geology presents itself as an innovative degree by providing equity between the training in Biological Sciences and in Geology. It corresponds to a multidisciplinary program combining theoretical information on the various subjects offered with their multiple practical applications (case studies). The structure of the study cycle includes a high number of hours of fieldwork in the area of Biological Sciences and Geology, which provides a balanced training that aims to strengthen the practical application of the scientific knowledge acquired. The teaching in laboratory spaces, which include high-tech equipment based in R&D units of the University of Évora and which support ongoing research projects, creates a scientific and pedagogical environment of excellence fundamental to the academic success of the students. The training is valued for its transversal character, from which a wide range of study methods and techniques in Biological Sciences and Geology stand out, which is reinforced by the attainment of competences in Geographical Information Systems, Environment and Spatial Planning, and Information and Communication Technologies. This solid and cross-cutting degree in Biological Sciences and Geology will enable future graduates to continue their studies in master's degree programs in the two scientific areas and in teaching in Biology, Geology and Educational Sciences.
