In the context of study and discussion of the main themes of research in music and musicology:
-Familiarize doctoral candidates with research methods and academic standards;
-Stimulate their interest in the ability to work independently;
-Develop their capacity to reflect critically upon their own practice and that of others;
-Develop their capacity to present their ideas clearly and communicate them effectively.

Contents

On a weekly basis, students will be exposed to lectures and presentations of scientific articles of the most varied themes of research in music and musicology. Not exclusively, it will be given special emphasis to the following topics:

- Music and History
- Music and Sociology
- Musical Cultures
- Theory, Analysis and Semiotics
- Musical Reception
- Music and Education
- Music and Technology
- Music Creation and Composition
- World Music, New Genres and Musical Practices
- Health Sciences and Music Psychology
- Music and Technology

Teaching Methods

The teaching methodology for this UC is based on a seminar format.

Continuous evaluation through oral assignments and presentations during the course of the curricular unit.
