Course Overview
The Doctoral Program in Art History is structured over a duration of four years (eight semesters) and encompasses the completion of an Advanced Research Seminar in Art History (6 ECTS) during the first semester, alongside a transversal skills course, which consists of four seminars (12 ECTS) throughout the first three semesters. This program is designed to cultivate competencies in the execution and communication of scholarly work, as well as the formulation of an original thesis.
Objectives:
To acquire advanced-level competencies, knowledge, and research methodologies that are scientifically current and aligned with internationally recognized standards of rigor.
To critically analyze, evaluate, and synthesize novel and complex ideas.
To systematically and comprehensively understand the scientific domain of Art History, Visual Culture, and Artistic Heritage, particularly through an extensive and updated knowledge of its epistemology, research methodologies, and theoretical frameworks.
To develop methodological and research skills with operational proficiency and critical reflection.
To conceive, design, and execute research projects in accordance with stringent standards of academic quality and integrity.To contribute original research that expands the boundaries of knowledge within the cultural and scientific realms of Art History.
To effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, to peers, the broader academic community, and society at large, the specific content pertinent to this disciplinary field.
To disseminate findings clearly and systematically.
