Learning Goals

MODULE I:
1. Understand the epistemological specificity of Education Anthropology. Clarify the general concepts used by all knowledge about Education. To deepen the reflection on the human being as subject and object of the Anthropology of Education. Relate Culture and Education with Life that is the human being's inheritance. 5. To discuss the theme of human educability in the horizon of the bioanthropological overcoming of naturalism.

MODULE II:
1. Contextualize the development of the Anthropology of Education in Portugal. Understand the meaning of intercultural, multicultural and transcultural vision of education; To understand the educational dynamics of the territories, within the framework of the school-family-community relationship (anthropological perspective); To know the cultural causes of the phenomena of school failure and abandonment and the impacts on the cultural integration of the ethnic minorities.

I: INTRODUCTION TO ANTHROPOLOGY AND THE ANTHROPOLOGY OF EDUCATION
1. Common denominator and differences in the various perspectives of the approach of Education - Pedagogy, Educational Sciences, Anthropology of Education
2. General concepts - Education, Education, Erudition, Culture
3. The human being - unity and plurality of the subject and object of Education
4. Educability as a pedagogical and anthropological presupposition

II: ANTHROPOLOGICAL VIEWS ON EDUCATION
1. Methodological assumptions on Anthropology and Education; The Anthropology of Education in Portugal.
2. The school-family-community relationship. Intercultural societies, subcultures and education: practices of intercultural education in Portugal;
3. School failure and drop-out and cultural integration of ethnic minorities;
4. Other spaces of Education: The museum as an educational space.

Teaching Methods

Oral presentation supported by visual methodologies, documentary viewing, critical reading of texts, participation in conferences or other extracurricular activities.
