Contents

Methods and tools for Geographical analysis. Schemes and field drawings. Reading and analyzing texts. Synthesis. Identification of the main ideas in a text and critica analysis. Search, discussion and clearing of concepts. Identification and formulation of a problem. Making up a report. Writen and oral presentations. Literature review and organization of literature references.

Teaching Methods

The teaching method is based on the presentation of theoretical concepts and associated methodologies in accordance with the structure of the teaching materials. During lectures, students are encouraged to participate and debate fundamental concepts as well as methodologies associated with the presentation topics. The teaching materials available include the use of a laptop and basic computer programs, cartographic, statistical, graphic, documentary/bibliographic and scientific sources, in paper and digital format, in addition to documentation and material necessary to carry out fieldwork. In parallel to theoretical and discussion classes, students will carry out work in groups aligned with the content of the themes (see program).

Assessment

Continuous evaluation
- Group project + presentation (30%+10%)
- Two individual exercises (10% each exercise) (Exercise 1: Quantitative, graphic and cartographic methods. Exercise 2: Qualitative, deliberative and results dissemination methods)
- An individual test with all theoretical material (35%)
- Participation and attendance (5%)
Note: approval requires mandatory attendance in 75% of lectures, including 100% of project classes, except for admissible justification.

Final Evaluation
- Practice Exam (65%) (on the same day as the individual Theory test (35%)), June 2024
- Appeal Period Exam (Practice (65%) + Theory (35%)): July 2024
- Special Season Exam (Practice (65%) + Theory (35%)): July 2024
