Learning Goals

The aim is to develop scientific, technical, and human knowledge and skills aimed at approaching the child / youth and family throughout their life cycle, care in response to their growth and development, the maximization of their health and in situations of special complexity. The student is expected to be able to: Assist the child / youth and family in maximizing their health; Promote the growth and development of children and young people; Implement and manage a health plan that promotes parenting and health; Diagnose early and intervene in common diseases and situations of risk that affect the child's life; Provide specific care throughout the life and development of the child / young person, Develop and mobilize skills for the planning, execution and management of specialized nursing care in situations of special complexity; Analyse reflexively the acquisition and development of competences of the Nurse Specialist in Child Health and Paediatric Nursing.

Contents

The programmatic content is related to and results from the knowledge and competencies that were acquired throughout the theoretical component of the course and the respective development of the common and specific competencies of the Specialist Nurse and Master in Nursing, as well as those that are implicit in the process of critical analysis and systematization of the final report and that involve:
Competences of providing child health and paediatric nursing care to children/young people/family (diagnostic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation);
Competences of providing child health and paediatric nursing care to the child / young person / family in disease processes in the acute and chronic phase (diagnostic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation);
Competences of management and supervision of nursing care in child health and paediatrics;
Competences of structuring and carrying out the internship report;
Writing skills and scientific communication.

Teaching Methods

The individual and/or group tutorial sessions with the presence of students and their supervisors are the resource in the initial phase, to allow the discussion and rationale of the project to be developed. Later, these sessions will take place between the student and his supervisor, for the preparation/writing of the Report. The curricular unit includes O (other) hours for other activities, such as: observation of other contexts, participation in congresses or study visits, among others. The assessment comprises the clinical component and the report component which is objective with the delivery, presentation, and public discussion.
The final assessment results from the elements:
A. Clinical Component: 50% (35% professor and clinical advisor + 15% student)
B. Reporting Component: 50%
Note: Elements A and B must individually have a minimum score of 10 points.
The UC is only concluded after the public discussion of the Report.
