Teaching Methods
The Research Seminar/Professional Internship Course Unit is based on a student-centred pedagogical model, geared towards the development of scientific, technical and cross-cutting skills, in line with the principles of active, reflective, autonomous and ethical learning advocated by the University of Évora.
The methodology adopted combines tutorial guidance, thematic seminars and individualised monitoring, promoting the articulation between theoretical-methodological framework and practical application in a real research or internship context. Students take an active role in defining the research problem or integrating into a professional context, and are encouraged to plan, execute and evaluate their own learning path, with continuous supervision from their academic supervisor and, where applicable, their supervisor at the host organisation.
In the research path, priority is given to the development of skills in the formulation of research questions, critical review of literature, definition of appropriate methodologies, data collection and analysis, as well as the writing and presentation of scientific reports. The professional internship pathway promotes experiential learning based on immersion in an organisational context, solving real problems and critical reflection on practices developed in the tourism sector.
Teaching strategies include:
1) Seminar sessions for methodological framing, project discussion and experience sharing;
2) Regular individual guidance to monitor progress;
3) Guided independent work;
4) Intermediate and final oral presentations, fostering scientific and professional communication skills;
5) Preparation of a final report (research or internship), integrating theoretical reasoning, methodological description and critical reflection.
Within the scope of this course unit, the use of artificial intelligence tools is permitted exclusively as a support tool for the learning process, namely for:
? support for research and organisation of information;
? linguistic and stylistic support in writing texts;
? analytical and brainstorming support;
? support in creating presentations based on content already produced by the student.
The use of artificial intelligence for the full or partial autonomous production of assignments, reports, analyses or other assessable products is not permitted. Students must ensure the authorship, originality and academic responsibility for all work submitted, in accordance with the academic integrity standards of the University of Évora. Whenever artificial intelligence tools are used, their use must be explicitly mentioned and duly referenced in the work, identifying the tool used and the type of support provided, ensuring transparency and respect for the principles of academic integrity.

Assessment
Assessment is continuous and formative, valuing the project/internship development process, the degree of autonomy, the ability to integrate knowledge acquired throughout the degree programme, and the quality of the final product presented.
1. Professional internship (EP)
1.1. Teaching method: professional practice
1.2. Assessment
a) Assessment of the internship report by the supervising professor: 60% of the final grade.
If the grade awarded by the supervisor exceeds 15 points, the student may choose between defending the grade by taking an oral exam or accepting the grade of 15 points.
b) Assessment of professional practice, carried out by the supervisor at the host organisation: 40% of the final grade.
In order to pass the EP, students must complete 320 hours of internship.
2. Research Project (TI)
2.1. Teaching method: research practice
2.2. Assessment
a) Quality of the RI developed by the student throughout the academic period and presented in written form: 60% of the final mark b) Student performance in the presentation and oral discussion of the RI: 40% of the final mark.
The use of AI in the assessment process and moments must be guided by the following rules:
1) With regard to continuous assessment, which may include project proposals, interim reports, oral presentations, critical reflections and other phased tasks, the use of AI tools is only permitted under the terms defined in the previous point of this FUC (research support, organisation, linguistic revision, brainstorming and support for the preparation of presentations). The use must be in support of the work developed by the student, not replacing their capacity for analysis, interpretation, decision-making and scientific or professional production. Whenever used, AI must be duly referenced, indicating:
? the tool used;
? the date of use;
? the type of support requested;
? a brief description of how the contribution was integrated into the work.
This information must be included in a footnote, methodological section or separate appendix entitled ?Declaration of use of AI tools?.
2) With regard to the final assessment (final research report or internship report), the same rules apply, with the emphasis that AI cannot be used to write, analyse data, construct arguments, draw conclusions or produce critical reflection. The final report must unequivocally reflect the individual's appropriation of learning, their ability to autonomously mobilise knowledge and their critical integration of the experience gained. Any use of AI for linguistic revision, organisation or technical support must be clearly referenced in accordance with the above terms.
