Contents

1. Introduction: what it means to be contemporary?
2. The linguistic turn in contemporary philosophy
3. The deconstruction of philosophy according to J. Derrida: a contemporary philosophy example.
3.1. Presence, difference and différance.
3.2. The phallologophonocentrism of metaphysical tradition
3.3. Ethics, poltics and hospitality.
3.4. Effects of deconstruction

Teaching Methods

Exposure, text analysis and discussion, debate.
The assessment will be based on:
1) attendance and active participation (25%);
2) each student will have to make at least one oral presentation about a text, a topic or present a
report of a (50% - 75%);
3) eventually, at the end of the semester, a written essay of c. 10 pp. related to the content
taught, integrated conferences or dissertation developments (25% - 75%).
