Sustainable Development Goals

Learning Goals

This course unit has as main objective students learn 3D Modeling and Animation through the development of
technical and conceptual skills in creating virtual representations of objects, simulations, environments and
characters, scene composition and animation.
To enable students to produce images, sequences or environments for conventional media, new digital media
or cinema / video / animation.

Contents

1. Historical Contextualization. The 3D in contemporary art, "new media" / digital art.
2. Basic concepts and tools.
3. Main methods and techniques of 3D modeling.
4. Camera, lighting, materials.
5. NURBS, functions, deformers.
6. Methods and techniques of animation. animation and articulation of character skeletons for animation
(rigging.)
7. Emission of particles, effectors, cloning and randomness. dynamic simulations, gravity, collision, tissue, soft
bodies, hair, among others.
8. Motion graphics.

Teaching Methods

The program is presented in a series of practical exercises previously scheduled and punctuated by theoretical
expositions and study visits. The evaluation will be continuous taking into account the student's attendance,
dedication and commitment, the imaginative and creative capacity, the work done in response to the
proposed exercises, and the evolution of the student and the mastery of techniques and knowledge taught by
the teacher. During the semester there will be continuous evaluation tests and a final evaluation. In the final
evaluation the students are evaluated by a jury composed by the teacher of the discipline and other teachers
of the course, who will appreciate the work developed globally and assign a final quantitative classification.

Standard Season (Continuous Assessment + Final Assessment)
Continuous Assessment (60%)
• 50% attendance
• 50% exercises made by the student on different small circuits (made during class)
Final Assessment (40%)
• Jury evaluation.
