Esta dissertação tem como objetivo analisar a promoção da cidadania por meio da Educação Cívica na Escola Secundária Maria Manuela Margarido, com os alunos da 9.ª classe. Foi utilizada a metodologia quantitativa com a implementação de questionário para recolher informações relevantes sobre a perceção dos alunos em relação à cidadania e ao papel da Educação Cívica na sua formação como cidadãos. Os resultados obtidos revelaram que a maioria dos alunos reconhece a importância da cidadania e compreende a necessidade de desenvolver competências cívicas. Eles demonstraram interesse em participar ativamente na comunidade e possuem conhecimento aprofundado sobre direitos e deveres dos cidadãos. No entanto, o estudo também identificou algumas lacunas na promoção da cidadania na Escola Secundária Maria Manuela Margarido. Alguns alunos destacaram a falta de oportunidades para exercerem a cidadania, na prática, e sugeriram a inclusão de atividades práticas e projetos de envolvimento comunitário para fortalecer a Educação Cívica; - Civic Education in the Promotion of Citizenship: a studywith 9 th grade students of Maria Manuela Margarido School ABSTRACT: This dissertation aims to analyze the promotion of citizenship through Civic Education at the Maria Manuela Margarido Secondary School, with the students of the 9th grade. The quantitative technique was used with the implementation of a questionnaire to collect relevant information about the perception of students in relation to citizenship and the role of Civic Education in their formation as citizens. The results revealed that most students recognize the importance of citizenship and understand the need to develop civic skills. They have shown an interest in actively participating in the community and possess in-depth knowledge of citizens' rights and duties. However, the study also identified some gaps in the promotion of citizenship at the Maria Manuela Margarido Secondary School. Some students highlighted the lack of opportunities to exercise citizenship in practice and suggested the inclusion of practical activities and community involvement projects to strengthen Civic Education.
