Sustainable Development Goals
Learning Goals
The curricular unit aims to provide students with a global knowledge of the main bacterial, fungal and prionic infectious diseases of domestic animals, and when applicable, of wild animals. Practical laboratory and field classes aim to provide students with knowledge of the diagnostic tools available, prophylaxis measures and therapeutics of infectious diseases. Students will acquire practical knowledge through problem solving and clinical case studies and official eradication plans for the diseases addressed
The skills to be developed are:
Ability to perform immunological tests (serological tests and tuberculinization)
Ability to perform specific bacteriological diagnosis
Ability to relate symptoms and pathological lesions with the aetiologic agent
Ability to research the most appropriate therapeutic and prophylactic options

Teaching Methods
Each week there will be a theorical (120 minutes) and a practical (120 minutes).
Theoretical pratical lectures will consist of plenary sessions dedicated to the acquisition of basic concepts and knowledge on bacterial and fungal diseases. The practical lectures will be held in the laboratory, in the field for large animal practice, study of official disease eradication or surveillance plans.

Assessment
Assessment by final written exam (on paper or via the Moodle platform) or oral exam is MANDATORY.

The final grade of the CU is subject to bonus based on the assessment of the assignments of practical classes as follows: assignments assessed as "sufficient" (+0 points to the final grade), "Good" (+0.25 points to the final grade) "Very good" (+0.5 points to the final grade).
