To promote the contact of the students with documentary and reference sources of this disciplinary field, destined to increase the available resources to guarantee the deepening of the knowledge and the autonomization of the work.
Stimulate the recognition of the historical dynamics that mark the evolution of theater from the Modern Age until the decline of the Ancien Regime and the affirmation of the forms of modernity that the twentieth century inherits.
Articulate the stages of the History of the theater with the establishment of major epochal frameworks and the issues that shape them.
To promote the acquisition and expansion of frames of reference of theater culture (contemplating drama, actor, space and production models) in relation to the historical periods under study.
Encourage critical inquiry and the ability to enunciate and solve problems through oral presentations, essays and reviews, as well as the exploration of IT (blog, moodle).

Teaching Methods
The teaching-learning process is fundamentally based on the autonomous work of the students, giving rise to the debate, the presentation and exposition of problems, the deepening of perspectives, thus involving the students in an active way.
It is a methodology that provides a considerable load of readings in the context of the history of theatre and its relations with other subjects. Research assignments, reviews and presentations are strategies to be favored in order to guarantee student involvement.
The evaluation aims to assess developed competences and acquired knowledge, considering its operation. On a continuous evaluation basis, the student should prepare presentations and interventions in context, as well as short assessment tests, following the sequence of the program. In the case of final exam, the student will take a final written exam.

Assessment
In the continuous assessment, 50% of the degree will correspond to research tasks shared in classes at thematic seminars. The other 50% will be on the review of the main theoretical content.
In the final exam, the total grade will be measured by the only exam to be taken within the scheduled assessment schedule.
