Learning Goals

By the end of the course, students are expected to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of subcutaneous contraception: efficacy, durability, advantages, disadvantages, indications, contraindications, and undesirable side effects;
- Apply the subcutaneous implant insertion technique;
- Apply the subcutaneous implant removal technique;
- Understand the possible complications of the techniques and resolution strategies.

Module 1:
- Characteristics of subcutaneous contraception;
- Types of intradermal contraception, advantages, and disadvantages;
- Possible complications and resolution strategies;

Module 2:
- Procedure for inserting the subcutaneous implant;
- Locating the subcutaneous implant prior to removal;
- Procedure for removal and reinsertion practice.

Teaching Methods

This course included the use of advanced technological resources, namely digital environments and technological platforms applied to training, conducted in a blended learning format. The methodology includes theoretical exposition and laboratory practices with simulated training on models for the insertion and removal of Implanon. For the laboratory practices, the will be divided into 2 groups.

Assessment

A avaliação será realizada através de um teste na plataforma Moodle, composto por 20 questões de escolha múltipla, exigindo um mínimo de 70% de respostas corretas entre as 20 questões apresentadas.
