At the end of the course, participants are expected to be able to:
Recognize warning signs and identify urgent obstetric situations in a pre-hospital setting, based on fundamental knowledge.
Apply basic stabilization interventions for the pregnant woman and/or newborn, within their scope of practice.
Ensure the safe and appropriate transport of the mother/newborn dyad to the hospital, in coordination with healthcare services.
Communicate effectively, empathetically, and in a humanized manner with the woman and her family, providing emotional support.
Communicate within the emergency team (intra-team) and with the hospital medical team, conveying relevant information about the clinical status of the dyad.

Module 1 ? Fundamentals of Emergency Obstetrics

Anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive system

Initial assessment of the pregnant patient: ABCDE approach adapted to the obstetric context

Neonatal immediate assessment and care

Principles of the physiology of labor

Module 2 ? Simulation of Physiological and Emergency Obstetric Situations using the Victoria Birthing® Simulator

Normal (eutocic) delivery in an ambulance or unexpected setting

Premature rupture of membranes

Preterm labor

Management of pre-eclampsia and eclampsia

Application of the Victoria Birthing® simulator in training scenarios

Module 3 ? Obstetric Emergencies during Labor: Simulation with the Victoria Birthing® Model, Team Performance and Communication

Shoulder dystocia: recognition and basic maneuvers

Umbilical cord prolapse: immediate response

Breech presentations

Postpartum hemorrhage: immediate management

Teaching Methods

This course, supported by the MedTech-Next Project, incorporates the use of advanced technological resources, namely digital environments and technology platforms applied to training. The course is delivered in a blended learning (b-learning) format. The methodology includes theoretical lectures, analysis and discussion of clinical cases, and simulation of clinical scenarios using the Victoria Birthing simulation model. For the simulation sessions, the will be divided into two groups of 10 students each.

Assessment

The assessment will be carried out through a test on the Moodle platform, consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions, with a minimum requirement of 70% correct answers
