OBJECTIVES:
- Understand organizational processes in health: from strategic to operational.
- Analyze policies, strategies and legal framework of patient safety and risk management and their impact on Clinical Supervision.
COMPETENCES TO BE DEVELOPED:
- Understands the functioning, articulation and integration of different health organizations in Portugal;
- Recognizes Clinical Nursing Supervision programs in health organizations;
- Understands the different stages of process management in health organizations;
- Reveals analytical skills on Clinical Supervision in policies, strategies and legal framework of patient safety and risk management.

Contents

Module I
• Framework of health organizations in Portugal: from strategic to operational planning
• Integration of clinical supervision in health organizations
• Process management in health organizations / communication plan in health organizations
• Leadership, governance and supervision in clinical context
• Health indicators: impact on clinical supervision
Module II
• Clinical Supervision associated with continuous improvement processes (PDCA and Business Process Management);
• Monitoring plan: evidence of results and improvement
• Quality Standards of Nursing Care and the Suitability of Clinical Practice Contexts
• Policies, Strategies and Legal Framework for Patient Safety and Risk Management. (Patient Safety Literacy and Communication and Risk Management; frequency of adverse events and main aspects of their prevention and impact)

Teaching Methods

It is intended that curricular contents can take the form of knowledge in action, transversal, interpersonal and systemic skills, reinforcing student-centered teaching.
Digital technologies will be mobilized to enhance the flexibility of learning, in a clear bet on the teaching/ research/ professional development relationship and allowing monitoring of teaching and learning practices and their readjustment according to the problems identified and validated with each student.

Assessment

The evaluation will be continuous and will include the active participation of the student in the various proposed activities. For students who opt for the continuous evaluation regime, it is expected to perform two (2) moments of evaluation: an individual work on one of the contents of Module 1 (50%); group work (maximum 3 students) which consists in the creation of a Podcast on one of the topics of Module II (50%) Students who do not obtain a grade of 9.5 or more, on a rating scale of 0 to 20 Values, or do not opt for continuous evaluation, are subject to evaluation by normal time and time of appeal, in accordance with the Academic Regulation in force at UÉ.
