Contents

Application in clinical practice of diagnostic and assessment tools for specialized nursing care in mental health and psychiatric, the person and family, taking into account the different contexts, and its consequent evaluation;
Process of care to the person with mental disorder or at risk of developing it, family, group or community, in inpatient context and/or community context and/or context of differentiated responses, according to the internship project planning;
Management process and care leadership.
Justification of choices, based on theorization and scientific evidence.
In addition to the clinical content the student is individually guided to the writing of a report linked to the experience of the Internship of Professional Nature and must demonstrate the acquisition of scientific writing and communication skills.

Teaching Methods

Clinical practice with patients and families, groups and/or communities with mental disorders or at risk of developing them.
The contexts are defined in the individual internship project and have a connection with the Internship in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing, and are also explained in the internship report. At the end of this internship, the student must have completed at least 175 hours of contact in an acute inpatient setting, 175 hours of contact in a community setting, and 150 hours of contact in a differentiated response setting.
Clinical supervision - specialist nurse in mental health and psychiatric nursing (MHPN) in the clinical setting.
Pedagogical supervision - lecturer from the MHPN School who accompanies the student in the internship project, in both internships and in the internship report.

Assessment

Final evaluation:
Clinical Component: 50% (35% faculty and clinical supervisor + 15% student).
Report: 50%
Minimum mark of 10 points in each component.
The course is only concluded after the public discussion of the report.
