Presentation

The Monetary Economics course addresses the issues of currency definition and quantification, currency supply and demand, monetary policy, the international monetary system and theory of interest rates. Taught in portuguese.

Understand what factors can influence monetary policy and interest rates
Analyze and problematize the effects of monetary policy on families, companies and other institutions
identify and characterize the transmission channels of monetary policy.

Carry out/design response strategies to monetary policy measures
Boost investment activities, considering the impact of changes in interest rates and exchange rates
The aim is also to achieve learning objectives related to transversal skills, such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication

Teaching Methods

In-person, expository teaching, encouraging student participation, clarifying doubts and discussing topics related to the program contents, developing critical thinking and stimulating the learning process. The presentation of the subjects is accompanied by computer resources and the preparation of a summary of the subject covered in each and an indication of the most significant bibliography, which are available on the subject's website. In addition to face-to-face work, students are encouraged to read the recommended bibliography, available in the university library, complementary texts, research works, and follow the current situation on the topics involved in classes presented in the media.
