This curricular unit aims:
1. To report on main scientific advances in Human Biology, and the impact of their application in society, as well as associated issues of ethical nature.
2. To understand the main applications of Human Biology in Biomedicine, in Biological and Forensic Anthropology ando n other related topics.
3. Knowing the interactions with other areas, notably biochemistry.
4. To develop capacities in searching information based on modern technologies of communication and information.
Students who complete this course should: acquire an integrated perspective of Biology, and of the evolution of ideas and biological thought through time, such as to contextualize its changes and recent advances.

Contents
This course has an open program, according to research areas of faculty and researchers invited to participate. The classes / lectures take the form of seminars where they will address various topics that will highlight recent research in Human Biology and its interdisciplinarity.
Teaching Methods
Attendance lessons/lectures by professors and / or faculty / visiting researchers.
Reflection on current and emerging issues based on articles from specializes journals, previously distributed.
Moodle and audio-visual media will be used.
The evaluation of the course will include the presentation of two works by students, based on the critical approach to scientific articles on the issues raised by professor and/or visiting researchers. The papers will be presented and evaluated in writing and oral versions.
