Development of a supervised work in Biology according to one of the following models including written and oral presentation in the appropriate format:
Experimental scientific work;
Work in a professional environment including a scientific review on a theme related to the developed work;
Scientific research project;
Project to develop a company/business in the area of Biology including a scientific review on a theme related to the developed work.
Development of multidisciplinary content integration skills within biological research areas.
Increasing the capacity of critical evaluation of problems that may arise in the exercise of the profession of biologist. Development of planning, analysis and synthesis skills related to the exercise of the biology profession.
Development of the use of a foreign language, namely English, and the acquisition of up-to-date scientific information.

Contents
Each work is individual and unique, and supervised by a doctor (PhD) in Biological Sciences, so the programmatic content is specifically related to the chosen work and model.
Teaching Methods
The supervision of the work, in all its phases, will be of the responsibility of a doctor (PhD) in Biological Sciences. At the beginning of the semester, each student should send the work plan to the responsible of this curricular unit. This proposal should include the title of the work, a brief description of the main objectives and general methods, and statements of acceptance from the supervisor and the co-supervisor.
Each student has to deliver a written work and make a public oral presentation and discussion of the work with the teachers of this curricular unit.
The final grade will be awarded as follows: Written paper (35% by the supervisor/co-guide + 30% by the teachers of this curricular unit); Oral presentation and discussion (35% by the teachers of this curricular unit).
