Learning Goals

This multidisciplinar course aims to offer the students, on one side, the needed reflexion on the questions of
interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity, and the complementarity between disciplines, and on the other side,
a thematic space for the structuring of the work leading to the thesis. The discussion of a tecnico-scientific
caracter will be supported, related with pragmatic aspects, in the approach of the proposed themes. It is
intended that the course the structure and contents of the thesis are discussed and a proposal drafted.

The integration of several disciplines. From disciplinary approaches to interdisciplinarity and
transdisciplinarity. Reality and the object of science. Society demands. Scientifical aproval and social
robustness. Chalenges in new productions of knowledge, and innovation in research.
Goals, approach and structure of a research thesis. Potential themes for the thesis. Definition of main goals.
Structure of the empiry and methods. Final evaluation of the structure and contents of the thesis proposal:
objectives, methods, state of the art, bibliographic revision.

Teaching Methods

Reading of texts selected by the professors and discussions based on the same. Presentations by the
professors. presentation and critical discussion of the proposals submitted by the students, for the work to be
developedin their thesis. Presentation by th students, followed by a report on the contents and organization of
the thesis.
