"Do you want to learn more about mushrooms? - a Treasure from Alentejo"

Nonetheless the ecological and economical importance of the mushrooms and toadstools, there is a great lack of knowledge about this subject in Portugal, particularly on its diversity and ecology, safe identification criteria and harvest good practices. In this sense, this proposal aims to contribute to the divulgation of the mushrooms and toadstools (macrofungal) richness and ethnomycological practices in South Portugal (Alentejo). The diffusion of the scientific knowledge, in an accessible and attractive form, is essential for the development of public sensibilization strategies, emphasizing the importance of the macrofungal conservation and preservation. In this way, we want to promote an articulation between the Évora University, namely the Biology Department, and the Pré-University Schools, in order to sensibilize this public to this issues.
